The Story
In 1995, a parishioner of All Souls Church in Washington, D.C., discovered a long-forgotten box containing 48 colorful drawings made by Japanese children from Honkawa Elementary School in Hiroshima, two years after their city was destroyed.
The joyful drawings were created and sent to the church in appreciation for school supplies received as part of post-war humanitarian efforts. The restored artwork became an inspiring reminder of reconciliation, gifts, hope, and the power of connection after devastation.
